#16: What to listen -5

When you practice your listening, you would be better to listen to the same person's voice every day. You can listen to the various types of sounds, but besides these various types of sounds you might as well choose one person's voice which you feel it easy to hear and listen to it every day as possible as you can.
This is because of the reading. Later, after you finish the practice of listening and speaking, you will start reading practice, and when you practice the reading you can remember the voice you chose and you can read with the accent, rhythm, and intonation of this sounds of the voice.
If you can hear the sounds of the voice in reading, not only you can get the meanings from the voice, but also you can combine the voice with the meanings. It's very important for us not to translate the text you read.

Maybe we should not try to memorize something in our second language learning.

"日本語で考えた単語を「英語では何と言うのだろう」と辞書で当てはめようとする場合には、自然な英語にならない場合が多い。"

I agree with you on this point. If we consult a dictionary when we see someone dancing on the stage and try to say to the person "お尻振って~!! in English", we can find the English equivalent of "尻" is "buttock" or "hip". So most of us Japanese who are studying English may say to the dancing person "Shake your buttock!" or "Shake your hip!"
However, maybe these expressions are unnatural, aren't they? Maybe we should say "Shake your butt!" or "Shake your hips!"
But I have not heard someone saying "Shake your butt!" or "Shake your hips!". I have heard something like this. "Shake your booty!!" So I feel that the expression "Shake your booty!!" is more natural than the others.
By the way, even if we consult a dictionary for the word "尻", it is diffi…
